FOTM MONTHLY EVENTS

Our regular monthly Community Events are a fun engagement for all to attend. We set the stage by having a local DJ to provide a fun, festive atmosphere. Every family receives two tickets at registration, one for a fresh produce bag and one for the family to receive a meal from a local food truck; food truck partners donate up to 100 meals at each event. Our guests have access to various community partners from the Health Department, OSU Extension Office, Morton Health, Good Samaritan, Cherokee Nation, TCC, OSU Medical Students offering various screenings, Massage classes offering free massages, a kid’s art class, and more. We design our Community Events to be a one-stop-shop for individuals to have access to various community services.

COMMUNITY GARDENS

Our community gardens serve by providing fresh produce, relationship building, and education. Community members assist in tending the grow beds, our employees use the grow beds as various learning activities for camps, and community members are allowed to harvest food to take home.

GIRL SCOUTS
BEYOND BARS
DECEMBER HOLIDAY MEAL

Our Girls Scouts Beyond Bars program is in conjunction with Girl Scouts of America. The Girl Scouts Beyond Bars is an extension of Girls Scouts designed to serve Girls Scouts who have a parent incarcerated. During December, we provide Holiday dinner boxes for foster parents to take home and prepare.

Ag in Schools Program

Our Ag in Schools Program includes training and education using innovative urban farming systems. This program educates students in the critical foundations of urban farming, the importance of healthy eating, and how to become an urban farmer. Students learn the impacts of a food desert, the importance of local food, the effects on the local economy, how/why people should eat healthy, and how to change food culture.

Students are tested on their knowledge and will be required to make a presentation to the instructor on the system of their choice and the impact of healthy eating. The Program teaches transferable skills to students to help them achieve success in other subjects: science, math, arts, and public speaking.
